Sad violin
« on: June 14, 2011, 02:08:28 PM »
Hello Jed,

Is this violin salvagable? It looks so sad, I'd like to give it a new life, if it's worth the trouble.

It was played by a Fransiscan monk for years. I don't know what happened to it. The guy died and one of his colleague monks gave it to me, with the intention to give it a new life, if possible. Is it worth it, Jed?

That is a difficult question to answer since I have no idea how it sounded before.
By the looks of it I feel it will sound ok.

Let me know roughly what time you will arrive here and I would like to do some lunch for you both.
Weather permitting I can do a bbq for us. I also want to show you three violins and see what you think. I know what people want to say 'there's no such thing as a free lunch.  :D

O, sorry! I didn't notice this reply before. Sounds like a lot of fun, we will gladly enjoy your hospitality! To have a look at three violins in return is but a small price to pay ;) Looking forward to it! As soon as I know more about time and precise date, I'll let you know.

Hi Jed,

We're plannint to come by on Friday the 5th of August. Any time is fine, we're on holiday then  :) You let us know what time is convenient for you.

Since I'm coming anyway with the Cerin violin, I was wondering if you could have a look at my other violin, Bob, as well. He's ok, but maybe you can determine if this is his full potential, in terms of sound. I sometimes think his response could be more direct.
We'll come back for the violins on Saturday the 13th, if that's ok with you.

Gerianne, those dates are fine. Must put them in my calender.
