Greetings from Lancashire
« on: June 14, 2010, 05:43:59 PM »
Hi everyone, my name is Martyn and I've been playing fiddle since my mid fourties. I play with a community band called the Lakeland Fiddlers and for a ceilidh band. I recently survived another weekend at Fiddle Hell where I met Ged and Brenda. Looking forward to chatting with you all.

Hi Martyn, welcome here to the forum. It was nice to meet and chat with you.
I enjoyed Buxton, what a lovely place!
....and thanks Graham for your hospitality, giving us a walking tour of Buxton and
the one to one master class on Hey Jude...

Good to have met you Martyn, it was lovely to hear your lovely Lancashire accent, I felt quite at home.

Enjoy your fiddling. . . .  I hope that at some point I will be able to join in and play, was not at my best at the weekend!

Catch you around.

Well it was certainly good to meet you, I hope you get back to your best soon. I've recovered from too much beer and too many curries, I'm ready to do it all again now. Roll on the next Fiddle Hell!  :)

Ah yes, but I can think of worse habits ;-)

Nice to hear from you fangfangli, what part of the world are you from? What style of music do you play?

Lord have mercy! got back from Buxton and I just want to move there, live there, so gorgeous.
And they have the clear water, spring stuff.
I enjoyed the Buxton ales as reccomended by gc at £2.00 you can't stay sober.
Michelle led us to Nats kitchen,  but it was closed I think.
By god I heard great music from Graham Clark!
Graham is a genius, I know that

Allow me to tell you about another genius..... Maguire.
There is something about him and his music that belongs in the history of great violinists.
Listen to him, even if you dont like Irish stuff, listen to the excursions , listen to his madness, cause he never knows what is coming up next.
If you want to hear him in the seventies, when he was at his best let me know.
Can you believe that Maguire lost a regular gig to me.
He played with Josephine Keegan on piano in the Plough on the Harrow road NW10
and I took his place. Had I known who I was displacing it would never happpen.
